This Week’s Foundation Thought is about Future Vision Plan “You can view the glass as half full or half empty on the topic of Future Vision. However, as we have worked through the steps needed to qualify our clubs and district, smaller clubs have begun to embrace the process and actively seek ways to work with other clubs, both within and outside our district, to create larger, more sustainable projects. Thousands upon thousands of people can be positively impacted by such projects and then we can truly claim that we are living up to our mission of Doing Good in the World. I challenge Rotarians to think big about the Future Vision Plan.” — Rotarian Cecelia Babkirk In anticipation of The Rotary Foundation’s 100-year anniversary in 2017, the Trustees set out to develop a plan to move the Foundation toward its second century of service. “The Rotary Foundation has seen an immense growth in service activities, and Rotarians have demanded greater simplicity and more significant outcomes from their work. Our programs must evolve to meet the desires of Rotarians and the world’s changing needs, and we believe this will be accomplished through the new structure of the Future Vision Plan.” “Rotarians have long been doing service in support of peace, health, education, and the alleviation of poverty to further the mission of The Rotary Foundation. The Future Vision Plan further focuses these efforts in a few key areas of demonstrated Rotarian interest to create more opportunities to collaborate with other organizations and achieve greater worldwide exposure for the work of Rotarians and their Foundation.” The Future Vision Plan focuses primarily on three grant types—district, global, and packaged. It is both more efficient and sustainable, and will help us make a greater impact around the globe. Rotarians, clubs, and districts should plan their projects with emphasis on sustainable, high-impact results within the six areas of focus: • Peace and conflict prevention/resolution • Disease prevention and treatment • Water and sanitation • Maternal and child health • Basic education and literacy • Economic and community development Rotarians around the world give generously to their Foundation to support a wide range of educational, cultural, and humanitarian programs. These gifts ensure that dreams of a better life become reality for thousands of deserving people throughout the world. Every Rotarian: Support The Rotary Foundation Every Week: By placing a $1 on your table card, $2 is better. Every Year: Contribute $100 or more per year to the Annual Programs Fund. Every Rotarian, Every Year: Sustaining Members are critical to the Foundation. If every club member contributed $100 every year, Rotary could nearly double its efforts to help needy people worldwide and support the continued growth of its programs. Please make all checks payable to The Rotary Foundation. You may give your check to Frank or Patty, our club treasurer.
