This Week’s Theme: The BE-Attitudes Key Verse: Isaiah 61:1-2 The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners. The beatitudes present us with a clear picture of what it means to be a true disciple of God. Here, (Matthew 5:3-12) Jesus states several blessings, each beginning with the phrase, "Blessed are ..." The Lord’s declaration of “blessed” is His description of the spiritual attitude and state of people who are right with God. The theme of the beatitudes describes a disciple who is more others-oriented and Kingdom of God-oriented rather than self-oriented. These principles are packed with meaning. Have you ever been truly blessed? Perhaps each one of us would benefit from a BE-Attitude adjustment!
