This West Main Street structure collapsed at 8:15 am on Saturday, September 19th, 1914. Fifty-nine years later, the building that replaced Covingtons buckled when it was consumed by fire on Sunday afternoon, October 21st, 1973. It had been occupied by Greens Richmond Supply Store for many years. Greens relocated to the College Park Shopping Center. Perrys Drug Store (next door) was the location of the Madison National Bank before they moved to Main across from the Courthouse (present site of Community Trust.) Covingtons moved into the new Elks Building (corner of Main and South Second) that replaced the older structure that was once home to Riccis.
