This absolutely pissed me off... But not as bad as the everyone is just so quick to sue. Such a sad world we live in and it was just an accident Comments. First off.. You know damn well youd feel differently if it was YOUR child. Secondly no, this wasnt just an accident because its the aides & bus drivers responsibility to make sure the child is loaded safely on and off the bus. That child had no control over his chair brakes, and had to trust that the bus driver or aide would set them. All his trust is in those two. So when their negligence leads to the child being physically hurt and have to have medical treatment, sweetheart I say sue the hell out of the school if they dont step up. It has nothing to do with money, it has to do with the school system NEVER ALLOWING THAT TO HAPPEN AGAIN. How am I supposed to trust a school with my child if another kid gets hurt due to someone elses stupidity yet is considered just an accident. Uh no.. Not locking his brakes is not just an accident. Walking away from him was not just an accident. Not supplying him with an aide as his IEP says he needs is not just an accident. Dexter has an IEP and Ive had no trouble from the school about it. They follow it to a T and make sure he gets everything he needs with no complaints or hesitation. It makes me sick people would look at that little after having to have stitches, his teeth chipped, glasses broke, and busted lip and say oh it was just an accident. It could of been avoided. So no, I say if the school wont own up to responsibility and fix what happened, then definitely sue... But only because strangling every single one of them is considered illegal.
