This action was so beautiful. The event started with a speak out held at a Jewish Community Center. After the speak out the people, about 100 Jackson Heights Community members, a very diverse group of individuals from Asian and Latino communities, took to the streets and peacefully marched to the local police precinct chanting in English and Spanish. Often the chant was Black lives matter. At one point a FDNY firetruck was coming down the street, the marcher quickly moved aside letting the firetruck through. (This may be the faster a FDNY truck has ever gotten through an intersection. ) After a moment of silence outside the precinct the march continued, now with a police presence. (Side note: One of the few female presenting officer that followed the march was continuously telling male presenting officers to calm down and chill out.) Action ended on Roosevelt Ave under the 7 train with 7 minutes of chanting in memory/honor of Eric Garner. Then participants peacefully dispersed on their own. This is the type of community I want to live in; diverse people coming together to love and support each other. So much respect, admiration, support, solidarity, etc. etc. to DRUM (the organizers) and the Jackson Heights community. You all are incredible. vimeo/113800242
