This afternoon I annoyed my husband (Im using the word annoyed as opposed to a few other more inappropriate words I could have chosen). Admittedly this is easy enough to do, and I rather excel at it, however today I managed to annoy and create more work (his words, not mine). One...or two....bad decisions were made....by me. We were sorting crazy nutty heifers (my idea) as I wanted to put them with different mobs. In my wisdom I put one heifer into a yard by herself (not by choice but I was too scared to draft the others off) and she was doing ok, not too frightened, then Cranky Pants (aka the husband) arrived and started yelling (at me) and she decided she didnt want to stick around so she jumped the gate, a low wooden gate (and I hadnt put the electric tape across to discourage her) and she kind of smashed it to pieces. Cranky pants yelled a LOT more. I decided to leave. Well I was leaving anyway, to pick up Cloud - Yay, so good to have her home again. And being the loving mother that I am, I left Favourite Son with his angry father, so they could have some fun farming father/son bonding experiences together. Bahahaha. So 3 hours later I arrive home. Favourite Son greets me at the door Dad is mad at you. Huh? How can that be? But I havent been here! What am I supposed to have done in my absence? While moving 2 of the crazy nutty heifers (remember that was my idea), Favourite Son accidentally spooked them and one ended up tangling herself in the 5 strand permanent electric fence - like so tangled that she couldnt get out and was being zapped repeatedly. This wouldnt have been a wonderful experience for her at all. Luckily the power switch was close by so they could turn the fence off quickly, but it required wire cutters to get her out, and the fence needed repairing and to top it all off the mad little critter jumped another fence.....Amazing the devastation I can create while not present, lol. And for the record the heifer is fine, probably sore and scared but she survived. This is why I prefer to rear my own calves, not buy in mad spooky ones, at least mine end up reasonably quiet. So looking forward to moving them tomorrow, NOT!!! Im sure youll all hear about it if we have dramas :)
