This afternoon I decided to head over to Tuckahoe and walk the lake trail because I needed some exercise. After that I headed over to the campground entrance to check out the Lore Of The Land trail only to find that area closed for the winter. So instead of turning around I proceeded down the road just to explore. Im not sure what road it was I turned on but I crossed a small bridge and ended up in Ruthsburg. I was surprised to find myself way over there especially so quickly. So I turned off again onto another road that was very rural. Nothing but hundreds of acres of empty fields. Suddenly off to my right I noticed what appeared to be somewhere between 50 and 75 deer. I have never seen that many deer in one place. I dont know if it was my car or something else that spooked them but they all started running. For about a mile they were all running parallel with my car. I was driving about 25 mph and they were right next to me. It was one of the most amazing things Ive ever seen. It was like something out of Wild Kingdom. Ive seen fields full of deer many times but never anything quite like that. It was a beautiful experience I will never forget. So needless to say I had a groovy day. :)
