This afternoon I finished a short novel, The Ocean at The End of The Lane, by Neil Gaiman. A new author for me although he is very prolific having written 20 books and is included in a number of anthologies. Gaiman has been compared with Ray Bradbury. The genre, too, is outside by usual reading proclivities.....decidedly fantastical and I am, as Larry says, very literal. But I absolutely fell into this book, strange though it is with its 7 year old narrator who remains nameless throughout the book as do his mom, dad and sister! Magic, dreams, monsters, memories, the book begins and ends with the middle age narrator. In between is a magical compelling story of childhood and its memories.
