This afternoon Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust had the pleasure of hosting Dr. Avraham Perlmutter as he shared his story of survival during the Holocaust alongside his children, grandchildren, and descendants of his Dutch rescuers. Avraham was born in Vienna, Austria in 1927 and at the outbreak of the Second World War was sent by his parents to The Netherlands to hide. In 1994, Peter and Getrude Beijers were named Righteous Among the Nations by Yad Vashem for their courageous actions in hiding Avraham. Avraham experienced the extent of both cruelty and compassion during the Second World War, and his story is one of great inspiration, which he has documented in a memoir, “Determined: The Story of a Holocaust Survivor.”
