This afternoon Pat and I took short trip to the old area of the Milwaukee VA and Wood National Cemetery. Wood National Cemetery is located on the grounds of a former Soldiers Home that today is called the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center, Milwaukee, Wis. It looks as if they are in the process restoring many of the historic buildings and building a new center for families of our Vets that are in need of long term treatment. One thing we found out is Wood National Cemetery is closed to new interments. The only interments that are being accepted are subsequent interments for veterans or eligible family members in an existing gravesite. The site is full and is only 50.1 acres, and has over 37,600 burials. This is some of what we seen, we plan on going back when we have more time, if you have anyone interned there and want a site photo let me know I think I might be able to help.
