This afternoon while watching the trailers in front of THE GAMBLER, I saw the promo for the Shiner Soundtrack Series screening of Paul Thomas Andersons MAGNOLIA, which I didnt realize was playing this coming Tuesday night at the Alamo (9:20pm). I genuinely love all PTA films by varying degrees, but there are elements of MAGNOLIA that I am thrilled by every time I see it. For starters, the Ricky Jay opening is a priceless piece that could be its own short film. Julianne Moore has a couple of wonderfully unhinged scenes.
