This amazing book talks about this ancient knowledge of delivering babies. It brings knowledge from all cultures: Ancient Babylon, China, American Indians, Japan, Europeans etc. Btw there is another great book of hers Spiritual midwifery. So here are my notes first: *No Male staff in my labor room since the presence of any men (except for your husband) makes your cervix open slower. *Must drink enough during labor to prevent urethra swelling. Bc women w urethra swelling end up w C section. *When crowning (babys head coming out) pant to pause. Bc if you do not pant (to pause) when the doctor asks you stop pushing you could tear your perinium. Bc your midwife or doctor OR yourself must massage your perinium at the moment of babys head crowning. Massaging will make the perinium stretch to avoid any tear. After it is massaged and stretched you can continue to push. *During pushing you must stop pushing if doctor asks you; bc Doctors need to check if the ambilical cord is around the baby neck.*Must eat during the labor to keep my blood glucose high for pushing stage. Many women end up w C sections just because they are too exhausted when it is time to push.*How to deal w labor pains:*.when contractions start make love to your husband. Bc the hormones in a mans semen make cervix open faster. *take hot shower and baths w husband during contractions at home and hospital bc being affectionate w your husband produces hormones in your body similar to oxytocin that open up cervix sooner. As soon as the cervix opens 10 cm a woman can push the baby out. For women who wait to long for cervix to open usually C-section is her fate. So the knowledge of how to open cervix to 10 cm asap is crucial for natural birth. *your husband can massage you in shower and smooch to release oxytocin hormone in your body that blocks the pain of labor.
