This aricle highlights....in my opinion....a huge part of the problem. The very last paragraph says two things....one is that the full implementation of UNDRIP was the "last" item on the priority list....and that tomorrow the NDP is introducing a private member bill regarding that. Why arent these things being communicated to the grassroots by the AFN? If full, free prior informed consent isnt recognized by both federal and provincial governments....including their subset levels of government...none of these other points will ever produce a result of full recognition of First Nations jurisdiction. Why does the AFN and the ones involved with them not let people know that these are not their own priorities and give people full information? It sure makes it appear as if they themselves do not want FPIC implemented.
