This arrest should not have resulted in the his death. The Police are going to claim they handled the victim this way because he resisted arrested, his prior arrests, and him being suspicious of him selling tax-free cigarettes. This may not result in criminal charges or convictions for the Police. Although the Family may be awarded a settlement, it will not compensate for their loss. Plus, the Police will continue to treat People of Color this way. I hope NYC Mayor De Blasio addresses these types of brutal apprehensions along with his illumination of Stop & Frisk.
