This article about Houston might actually be the dumbest thing Ive ever read. Naturally, (if I can hate on my own for a second) it was written by an ignorant native New Englander who moved to Houston and feels the need to whine about trends that he thinks fulfill his worldview. First of all, I have to assume the author has actually never stepped foot into New York City if he thinks Houstons rent is comparable. I paid $1,000/month all utilities included to live five minutes from Houstons upscale Galleria area in a newly renovated two bedroom condo. Let me know if you can find that rent in NYC. BECAUSE YOU CANT Ever. Literally, anywhere. The author whines, OMG ONLY THE RICH AFFORD TO LIVE IN HOUSTON. Really? Has he actually ever been to any major U.S. city? Particularly the progressive ones? Because their income inequality is higher than any others, period. Thats a documented fact. Houston has a thriving, diverse middle class that doesnt exist in the so-called forward-thinking, tolerant (yet segregated) cities, whose policies actually hamper those they claim to support. TL;DR: Relative economic freedom creates prosperity. Progressive whining and the forthcoming implementation of their policy ideas creates a lot of self-righteous upper class people claiming to care about the poor while actually hurting them immensely.
