This article best explains the vast difference between both DC & Marvel comics approach to superhero characterization and storytelling. I have this belief that most comic book readers my age grew up at first becoming familiar with Batman and Superman because the run of those characters stories went uninterrupted from the late 1930s / early 1940s throughout the decades of the Fifties, Sixties, Seventies, and Eighties. Marvel hit its comic book publishing stride during the early 1960s with their unique brand of storytelling and art style creating Fantastic Four & Spiderman, thus becoming head to head competitors with DC despite being under different publishing names during The Golden Age of Comics. Even in that earlier time period, Marvel did some pretty good innovative material. So you ask, What is your point? Throughout the years Ive been reading comics, the tendency to perhaps flip flop between publishers was that desire to DREAM beyond the limits of my imagination (DC) or to IDENTIFY my feelings (Marvel) with fictional characters and stories. Which company did you hold your allegiance towards when you began reading comics and what first exposure introduced you to realizing that the publishers were uniquely different in style?
