This article, by Julie Drizin, has a very long headline: I’m raising my kids atheist in a God-obsessed culture: How I learned to parent godless children; see: https://richarddawkins.net/2014/08/im-raising-my-kids-atheist-in-a-god-obsessed-culture-how-i-learned-to-parent-godless-children/ . Its about the tradition to prime (brainwash) our children, consciously or unconsciously, to believing supernatural things and entities, like the Tooth Fairy, Santa Claus or that the childs pet dog/cat/rabbit after its death arrives at Heaven, there also grandpa and grandma live nowadays, enjoying their afterlifes. Once when Richard Dawkins visited Sweden, he appeared on tv addressing just this question. I remember he said something like this: Imagine this scenario. Your youngsters pet rabbit is dead, now you have to bury him. Should you then tell your youngster, Dont be sad, hes now in Heaven playing with all the other rabbits there and eating as much green grass as he wants. Or should we tell your youngster: Now your favorite rabbit is buried here in the soil in our garden. Soon worms will come and consume all his flesh so that just his bones are left. When youre dead, youre just recycled by nature in this way. There is no Heaven. BTW, dont forget to have a look at the comments below the article.
