This article emphasizes the value of church attendance on Sundays, - TopicsExpress

This article emphasizes the value of church attendance on Sundays, but I also recognize that not all families are interested in attending a religious service. At the very least, cant we designate Sundays as a day for strengthening families, connecting with relatives, visiting the sick, etc.? The sports leagues are now making Sundays a consistent day of participation (even at the recreational level). As the article points out, many families feel pressured to attend Sunday games. Some may argue that attending tournaments is a valued family activity, but the real concern is that your right to choose how you would like to spend your Sundays (without worrying about how the coach and team will respond) is being threatened. Wouldnt it be valuable to your family to reclaim Sundays and not trivialize it as just another day in the week for other people to dictate how it is spent? All it will take is enough parents to speak up.
