This article gets at the essential hypocrisy of the adjunct system: teachers are the core of the classroom, the conduit between the student and the knowledge, allowing skills and information to flow freely in a loop, but they are being treated as though they are wholly expendable and non-essential. Its a system them has been turned completely around. The idea of it seems like an overly-contrived farce, except its actually whats happening. Students are paying more and more for their college education, but there is less and less money going to the people that they work with on a daily basis. Its like going to your favorite restaurant and waiting too long for a poorly prepared meal, then being told that prices have doubled because theyve had to hire more managers to deal with their new system of chef-cycling, bringing new people into the kitchen on a monthly basis and limiting them to 15 hours per week.
