This article hits on so much that has been weighing on me for the past few years. Even back before I became more educated about these issues, or even what the names for problems like this were, I felt disgust at how it seemed like every decision in this country was motivated by one thing -- money, versus what is best for the population. It still baffles me how things like education and healthcare are for-profit. If we werent so worried about how much things cost all the time, we could be living truly rich lives. One thing I loved about Paris is how the city brings in sand every summer and turns the banks of the Seine into beaches. It cost money, and the people are paying for it through taxes, but think of how it enriches their enjoyment of life! The situation of our country makes me sad and it seems so hopeless to make things better without a serious, possibly terrifying, revolution. I do own a small business, and am in the process of starting a couple more, but a part of me wishes I was one of the rich guys in this article so I could effect change. I dont ever post or often talk about much more than photography, my baby, my life and my travels, but I do read...and research...and educate myself...and worry about society.
