This article is a thought-provoking at our modern lifestyle and how alone it can feel sometimes as a mom of young children. However, Im happy to say that the Lord has provided many women who have group parented along with me as we herd our collective children along, women who DO listen and offer wise advice, who pray with me, bring meals when we are sick, listen on the phone, cart my children around, and in general share the workload when we are near. We cobble together lunches (and even dinners) from what we both have on hand, admonish whichever child is misbehaving regardless of who he/she belongs to, help up a child whos stumbled regardless of who he/she belongs to, and more. My church family is one such group to be sure, but a few others stand out as well (shout out to those in that second group who are on FB: Priscilla R Deets Bridgette Marie Stelly Boudreaux Lisa Robertson Cooper). My mom and sister ( Carrie Matthews Weldon) and mother-in-law ( Sheryl Farquhar) are all out of town, so its an especial blessing to have a community of other women locally who are with me in the trenches!
