This article is pretty close to reality, but its obviously written by an out-of-stater because there are some errors. In Michigan, we dont refer to Michigan sauce. Its coney sauce or coney chili. And there are two distinct types of coneys - Detroit and Flint. Detroits coney sauce is thin and runny chili. Flints is thicker and dryer, made from ground-up spiced beef hearts on top of a Koegels Vienna sausage (local delicacy). Trust me, the Flint coney is far superior to those phony coneys from Detroit. And there are two seasons in Michigan - winter and construction. This article also misses the delicious lake perch, square Sicilian pizzas and Greek salads (with one sliced beet!) that are popular here. But all in all, this pretty well hits it on the head for describing some of the joys of Michigan. Too bad it doesnt talk about our winter driving habits - you know you are in Michigan when the driver hits a serious skid on icy pavement, then hands his beer to the passenger and shouts Watch this!
