This article is right on so many levels. I used to be that guy doing shoulder shrugs with 400lb and driving myself to exhaustion with every set. I recently joined a gym again and am perfectly happy doing light resistance at a slow pace to get that eccentric/concentric contraction with a good squeeze and walking out of the gym with energy to spare rather than leaving feeling exhausted and unable to move the next day. On top of that were raised in a culture where exhaustion and stress are the norm because were supoosed to work until we pass out because that suposedly what it take to be successful. Work smarter not harder, thats the secret to success.
