This article offers a powerful, challenging critique of the role of US humanitarianism in Haiti. The author does not pull punches, and it is important for us to be willing to be made uncomfortable in order to get closer to the truth of what service really means. May we learn from the mistakes, well-intentioned or otherwise, of the past and present, and may our efforts only be in solidarity with the true will of the people with whom we partner, and who are experts of their own lives.
