This article on Ebola is fascinating, not because of what it - TopicsExpress

This article on Ebola is fascinating, not because of what it describes about the devastation caused by the virus, nor because it engages in the currently obsessive US conversation about breaches in proper PPE use, ethics in hospitals/nursing, or who should or shouldnt get on an airplane (boy, we become frightened, then quickly angry and accusatory), but because of what it reveals about the failure of science and medical expertise/scholarship and even well-intentioned public health officials, in the face of our inability to understand one another, to share information, to telescope out and see events from a distance, unfolding, in a sequence. I dont mean it could have gone a different way. I appreciate just how hard it is to be ourselves, in our bodies, at this moment in time, vulnerable and on the ground, while hoping, in this case needing, to change the course of things well beyond ourselves.
