This article struck a chord. Today I saw an elementry school child walk to class and the child was having issues walking. The child was limping. I know that the child engages in high risk sports and I wish the child rest and swift recuperation. The emphasis in specialization in one particular sport for children (at an early age) has done more damage than good. If you do not believe that, then read this article. Learn new strategies that can be used to help avert these injuries that too many children are getting. I believe children should have fun playing a/or sport(s) and not emphasize the competitive aspects of sport(s). The emphasize should be on learning the skills of the sport to prevent injury, having fun, strengthening or conditioning (also to prevent injury), and teaching positive social and psychological values or virtues. My recommendation is that children play non competitive activities and that the activities use the full range of the natural human movement capabilities; like MovNat. MovNat is a great solution that is effective/efficient (in terms of making you fit), safe, and long-term cost effective. MovNat is like cross training at a natural level. In MovNat there is no emphasis on competition, unlike in many sports. MovNat has none or very little injury incidence, compared to many sports. The goal in MovNat, is for the person to improve in all capabilities (not one), work with others to achieve goals, and train the whole (body, mind, and spirit) and not the part(s). MovNat is a solution and is complete. If you have any questions, feel free to get a hold of me. Thanks and go do some MovNat! :-)
