This article talks about how some activists in the Philippines are concerned about this disaster being used to get the U.S. Military permanently back into their country. We keep reiterating that our non-military operation would take much of that concern away and that we can respond much faster than the military. If the U.S. Government is sincere in wanting to help without strings attached, they need to support a nonprofit organization like ours. The USAF is retiring at least 22 C-5As and dozens of perfectly good C-130s. Aircraft that we could put to immediate use and allowable under current law. But for this too happen the DoD must concur. They have thus far said no. We need President Obamas ear on this but that has been a problem. We have written letters to him and others in the White House but they have never responded. We will keep trying every way we can to get this needed solution into their view.
