This beautiful boy is Jasper and hes the aussie mix I mentioned about yesterday that was saved from the county shelter on his very last day. Zach, Cindy, myself and a few other rescue pals were checking out the shelter looking for potentials to come back and pick up for our upcoming transport. We stumbled upon Jasper who was nearly non-responsive in his kennel and all of our hearts broke. He had been at the shelter since a few days after Christmas and had steadily just fallen into a deep dark depression. Jasper had undergone a pretty evasive operation to his manly parts but just wasnt bouncing back to the young four year old boy he truly was. Shelter staff said he had actually stopped eating entirely and was scheduled to be humanely euthanized that very same day. Zach instantly chimed in and begged them to hold off on euthanasia that Marleys Mutts had a place for him. I went home and made calls to set up fosters for about a dozen short term transport pups and one special foster for these equally special boy. We picked him up the next day (yesterday) and he has blossomed right before our eyes. Jasper now wags his tail and begs for attention. He has this adorable habit of leaning back on his hind legs and placing his front paws up on you when you come close to cuddle him. His sad dark eyes are showing that little sparkle that he understands life isnt quite worth giving up on just yet. Hes part of the Mutt family now and have a quarter of a million people rooting for his recovery and survival. Jasper has a vet appt today to check him out and make sure hes on the right track. His new fosters already are madly in love with him and know hes going to make someone an amazing pet! Thank you for your continued support and we may need some financial support to help this guys medical needs as well in the near future. Happy friday militia! -Amanda
