This buck is thankful Oklahoma Game Warden Doug Gottschalk (Noble County) came along. Warden Gottschalk was patrolling north of Perry when he noticed a buck with its head down. Only portions of its body could be seen, but Doug noticed something wasnt right. Gottschalk approached the buck to find it locked up with a bigger bodied dead one. Using the only tool available at the time, his duty pistol, the Warden shot one of the beams off the dead buck. The live buck ran off slowly, obviously physically pushed to the limit. Without Warden Gottschalks observation and action both bucks would have perished. This is Dougs 31st hunting season serving the sportsmen and women in Oklahoma!
