This came across my news feed. This is a huge part of whats wrong with Christianity today.on the surface she sounds, based in her faith, right on.but if you noticed this only addresses the perpetrator and god. Guilt is an emotion you feel when you do something wrong, usually TO someone else. In her example if I wronged you and feel bad all I have to do is give it to God and we are square. What the audience has realized by a show of hands is that they still feel guilty. Why? Because the devil? How about because they never tried to make good with the ones they hurt. If I rear ended your car and got out and said woah, sorry but hey jesus forgave me for doing that so we are good, youd be pretty pissed off. Ok great, but whose going to pay for this? Do you have insurance? No, but I have jesus. What good does that do me ? Now I cant get to work and have to fix my car. The religious leaders focus on the forgiveness aspect, but does anyone say, you need to pay to fix their car and compensate them for work, then you can be forgiven. There is no accountability taught in Christianity between people on them and a god. Its all god wants you to be rich modern Christian definition for blessed and all of this guilt free narcissistic values do what you want jesus forgives you lack of accountability. I have even experienced Christians murder someone, ask for forgiveness then go on like nothing happened (they happened to be a big fan of this lady and Joel Olsteen ) what about the people whose lives you ruined? Where is their compensation, because jesus didnt write a check to cover them. I want to see a pastor or evangelist stand on a pulpit and say, do you know why you feel guilt? Because you were an asshole, and before you can be forgiven you have to at least make an effort to make good on those and/or the families of those that you hurt. .....thoughts?
