This cause is very near and dear to me... Please watch this video, it is 8 minutes long, and it is done by Nevada Medic, a fellow Admin and Co-Founder of the page PTSD Project. I myself am thankful for many things, first of all that I am not homeless, second, that while I have many injuries, both physical and mental, that God watched over me and allowed me to survive my deployments with all my limbs and my life, and has granted me the strength mentally and physically to go on each day. I almost committed suicide in 2004, I was holding my loaded gun to my head, and was going to pull the trigger (I havent shared this with very many, it is difficult to write these words, and I dont want anyones sympathy!, just for people to understand how hard it is for those with PTSD to go on every day), and God sent a savior at that moment... We lose 22 Veterans to suicide on average every day, and another 1.65 Active Duty members each day to suicide. The majority are those who suffer (diagnosed or not), with PTSD. Many Veterans with PTSD are homeless, an cannot hold down jobs because of the demons they fight continuously. Depression, anxiety, survivors guilt, guilt over doing what had to be done in the Hell that is War, sleep issues, chronic pain from the constant heightened tension and stress... This video is to spread awareness of the plight our Veterans, our Sons, Daughters, Brothers, Sisters, Parents, Grandparents, other relatives and friends go through. People who stepped up and served our Nation, be it in a draft, or voluntarily, all having experienced the horrors of war... All changed forever, carrying scars that most cannot see nor comprehend... So I implore everyone on my friends list, watch this video, you may need Kleenex (I did, damned allergies!). I then challenge you to share this video, and if you can, donate a few dollars or some of your time to any cause that supports our Veterans... They sacrificed so much for all of us (yes I say Veterans sacrificed for me, as those who served before, during and after I did, did me a huge service as I did for them), it is the least we could do to repay them... If you cannot spare any time nor money, let me know and I will send you a paper about PTSD, so you can at least educate yourself just a bit on what these brave souls endure daily, after surviving combat... No need to dump ice on yourself, or pepper spray your eyes and then get water boarded... Simply hit the share button, and spread the facts about our numerous homeless HEROES!
