This chart may look like gibberish, but it unlocks the secret of the exact shade of Yellow used on post-war Harvards! The chart is in RCAF diagram 32737, and specifies the colours used in decals for RCAF aircraft (ie the colours used in the Red Ensign decals and roundels). However, the shade of yellow is the same spec for the overall yellow used on postwar Harvards (1-GP-12b-5-2), referred to on some drawings as Yellow 5-2 The cross reference refers to two basically extinct colour systems, the Munsell Renotation system (dates from 1905!) and the Colour Harmony Manual (well out of print). A quick Google search led me to a program that converts Munsell values to the more common RGB and CMYK colour values, and by inputting 3Y 7.9/13.7 into the program, I came up with a modern equivalent for RCAF Yellow! (RGB = 252,201,0) Guess what shade of yellow 20304 and Bessy will be painted in? ;-)
