This clip does not necessarily reflect my views on the issue but I thought it is worth watching. As much as I believe that the government is squarely responsible for the security of its citizenry, I also believe the citizens themselves have a role to play to ensure their own safety and security. We should be patriotic enough to report the people we know to be involved in such heinous acts of terrorism who live in our midst whether they are our relatives, friends or neighbours. Having said that, if the reason Alshabab is attacking us is because our armed forces are fighting them in Somalia, then I think we should pull out from there immediately. After all we are fighting a war that is not even ours. We went there in good faith to help the people of Somalia but it is now clear that our help is not welcome and in any case we were not going to offer this help at the cost of our own people and insecurity in the country. If you ask me, we should not have sent our forces to Somalia in the first place but that is now water under the bridge because we cannot go back in time to reverse our actions but let us now do the right thing before more innocent lives are lost. So, to my president I say, Sir, all said and done, the buck stops with you. And to you my fellow countrymen, please play your bit. Do not protect anyone who can potentially harm others. May Allah protect us all.
