This cold weather reminds me of one of the coldest winter days growing up. We just had moved to Chapel Hill just down the road from Brenham Texas...home of my favorite ice cream ever Blue Bell ... it was in the Christmas Holidays...so you can imagine we had no heat or lights nor gas for the stove. I remember complaining to my Mom.. I must have been about 9 or 10 years old at the time and I must say she would make me forget how cold I was just the sweet sound of her voice and the assurance everything was going to be alright. Those days during the Christmas season was the best around our home, Dad and my older brother would come home with a fresh Christmas tree from the back pasture of the ranch. I always have felt the love of my family, brothers, sister and friends even so much more now that I am getting older. The smell of cinnamon Mexican chocolate and the home made tamales and banana pecan cake my mom would make...man I miss those days....
