This colourful larger than life character was my partner for 20 years. We knew one another for many years before we became partners...Our relationship was very dramatic...to say the least..GAYNOR, Larry - Larry Gaynor died Saturday night May 15, 2010 at St. Michaels Hospital in Toronto. He was 70. Until the end, he bore the pain and discomfort of emphysema with grace, dignity and great courage. Lawrence William Jack Gaynor was born in Saint Andrews, NB, the only child of Bill Gaynor and Rose Ethel Neary. He attended the University of New Brunswick and College Militaire Royal de Saint-Jean but formal education was not his passion. He found it hilarious but confining. He was, at one time or another, a lifeguard, ad salesman, circus performer (fire-eating division), night club bouncer, novelist, comic book writer, midway carny, television writer, military cadet. Among his many CBC TV credits - Seeing Things, Street Legal, The Great Detective. His programs were smart, funny, engrossing, as was his entire career. He lived hard and gleeful in the full-throated joy of an artist forever young. He treasured loyalty as the cardinal quality of friendship; no one was truer to his friends. His outsized physical presence was matched only by the largeness of his heart and the width of his flashing smile. To those who loved him, he leaves a burning void. He was a singular man. His last voicemail message said: I am elsewhere, sliding among the dimensions - leave a note. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Larrys name to the good people of the Supporting Cast at the Performing Arts Lodge will be appreciated. A memorial/wake will be held at a later date.
