This coming Saturday, May 24, 2014, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund is sponsoring The National Reading of the Names: Post 9/11 Heroes ceremony which honors and remembers those who gave their lives in service in Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation New Dawn. The ceremony will take place at The Wall. A couple of days ago I received notification that I will have the honor of reading the following 15 Heroes names at 12:09 p.m.: 1. Jacques Jules Fontan * 2. Shamus Otto Goare * 3. Corey James Goodnature * 4. Robert Eugene Hall, Jr. 5. Daniel Richard Healy * 6. Manny Hornedo 7. Kip Allen Jacoby * 8. Erik Samsel Kristensen * 9. Jeffrey Alan Lucas * 10. Michael Martin McGreevy, Jr. * 11. Marcus Vinicio Murrales 12. Michael Patrick Murphy * 13. Shane Eric Patton * 14. James Williams Ponder, III * 15. Stephen Charles Reich * 13 of the names above are followed by *. The means that they were members of Operation Red Wings, which most of you are now probably familiar with because of the movie, Lone Survivor, starring Mark Whalberg. Michael Murphy was awarded the Medal of Honor. His story has also been told in Murph: The Movie. I will be sharing stories and pictures of each of the Heroes listed above over the next few days. I ask that you take the time to know them. I do not have the words to accurately express what an honor and privilege this will be for me. It has taken a couple of days for me to gather my wits and get my emotions in check (somewhat) so I can share this with all of you. Jill Stephenson, I did not get Bens name, but I will be there and ready at 3:36 when his name is read incase the person reading his name is late or does not show up. Laura McGreevy, I will be thinking of you and Molly. Please let Mikes mom know that while they wont be nearly as good as hers, I will be taking him some brownies next weekend.
