This coming Thursday evening, January 15 at 7pm, KY3 News contributor Ed Fillmer will present a series of historic stories about Grist Mills in the Ozarks. These stories were produced by Fillmer in the 1980’s and ‘90’s for KY3’s “Ozark Life” segments. Many have not been seen publicly in decades. The presentation will take place at The Library Center on South Campbell, south of the James River Freeway and is free and open to the public. Fillmer will show the videos and discuss the production of them and well as the historic significance of mills to early life in this part of the country. The mills Fillmer visited with his camera include Alley Springs Mill, Hodgson Mill, Topaz Mill, Johnson Mill, Zanoni Mill and others. This presentation is the second in a series Fillmer of similar programs planed for 2015 based on his historic KY3 video archive of life in the Ozarks. Ed Fillmer is now the official ‘Journalist in Residence’ at Springfield’s The History Museum on the Square, in a non-profit video journalism collaboration with KY3 News.
