This coming Thursday, this rescue girl will become a US citizen at the Naturalization ceremony! The first photo is of my daugther, Sabrina, and myself. I had been in Texas only a couple months, in 2001. Second pic, is my soulmate Silky, my very first rescue in Texas, in 2003, right after I fell in an uncovered hole at Walmart in McKinney and tore my back, hip, leg and ankle. I got Silky because I needed a reason to beat the pain and get up in the morning... then came fostering for various groups and the start of my own after I lost Sheree, Third, Silky and Sheree, and myself in the yard in 2004 In the fourth, Silky and I in October, 2006. I lost her a month later to pancreatic cancer at the age of 4... Fifth, Maddie Schnoodle and I on my birthday in 2009. The last one is me with my grandson Yoshi on my shoulder and Grizzly, who was my foster boy at the end of 2013. Between Silky and our latest rescues, 1600 dogs came through our rescue group. I am older, much more tired, more limited in what I can do physically; I have more experience, made friends, made ennemies too... that comes with the territory in rescue sometimes. I have learned a lot from many people. Although Montreal, Canada is my hometown and I will always be a Canadian in my heart, Texas and the US will be my permanent home on Thursday. Almost 14 years ago, I chose Texas to live... Seems like it was only yesterday.
