This coming week should see a flurry of bills voted on in the House, as we are wrapping up our legislative agenda prior to summer recess. Bills of interest this week, among others, include the following: 1) In the Transportation Committee, they are discussing HB 4358, 4359, 4630, 4632, 4762, 4763 and SB 390. The first four bills deal with tax and fee increases for additional road funding. 2) HB 4786 should be up for a floor vote. This bill will increase vital record fees and also raise the cap on fees that local registrars may charge for providing vital records. 3) HB 4576 will allow for the licensing of insurance navigators. Navigators are people who provide assistance and guidance on the healthcare exchange that is being established in accordance with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, a.k.a. "Obamacare". I will do my best to stay on top of things and keep posting updates here as fast as I can.
