This comment from Simon T M Ng: I teared up when I saw this photo...and couldnt hold back...as a colleague, research teammate and friend, I have never seen such a Benny, for the last 15 years or so. He is a good man: timid, kindhearted, cheerful, intelligent and faithful. You may disagree with some of his thoughts but you cant deny that he is a man of integrity, with a young heart full of hopes. If you blame him, ask yourself if you have ever made any mistakes with an unexpected consequence. (I never see his a mistake, but everyone has a learning path, right?) If you want to hold him responsible for the so-called chaos, take to the street, be with the people there and ask and be frank to yourself: do you smell any violence and incivility from the Hong Kong citizens, even in a scenario worse as such? Isnt the baptism of tear gas showcasing our highly mature citizenship and civic culture? If you think conveniences and money are worth more than human dignity, demand for integrity and our love for freedom and democracy, so be it. Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. (Benjamin Franklin) You are not forced to be free anyway and you are free to hold what you believe is a belief or a value. But when the future that the beautiful HongKong citizens bring is come, the fruit will be for you and your children too. For freedom is for everyone. For every equal one who is free not just as the individual, but also as brothers and sisters. p.s. For FB friends and acquaintances who dont share my view and value or even find my sharings offensive, no worry. You may switch me from being your friend to acquaintance, and/ or stop receiving notifications from my posts. But please dont unfriend. I always treasure our meeting in this life.
