This company just got funding -- Ive met the founders and think what they do will change the world. See, in perhaps 10 - 15 years, the meat you eat will be grown using biofabrication. No more cows, chickens or pigs needed. Steak, pork, chicken and even leather will be grown in a lab. It will taste the same and possible be even more nutritious. Right now it costs $100 to manufacture a simple steak chip (like a potato chip but made of bio-fabricated beef), but prices will drop and it will likely go mainstream in the next 2 decades. If this freaks you out --- consider this: 1/3 our landmass on earth is used for animal farming. 70 billion animals are being raised (often in cruelty) for our food. With bio-fabrication, we can give a lot of that land back to nature plus save water and avoid animal cruelty.
