This completely broke me. We, the consumers, need to demand that auto makers start installing some type of sensors to alarm us, if the weight remains, after the ignition has been turned off. Something needs to change. Until then, I have heard people suggest parents leave their cell phones in the backseat, with the child. That serves at double protection. It will keep the parents from becoming distracted by the phone while driving, and preventing them from becoming so engaged in other issues, that they forget their child. Also, because we use our phones constantly, people notice their phone missing relatively quickly, and will return to the car to retrieve it, and hopefully find the child, before it is too late.
