This cookie recipe was a Christmas standard in our household growing up -- Mom always made these (along with divinity, peanut brittle, and sometimes homemade caramels) - I always thought they were something that came from her family (the Lofftuss) - however, when I was up in Chicago rehearsing a new piece with the 21st Century Ensemble, we all went to lunch not far from the rehearsal hall -- when returning, we walked by DAmatos bakery on Grand Ave near Ogden and went into the shop to look around - these cookies were here! (later I called my father and discovered that this was less than three blocks from where he grew up -- this bakery is where he bought treats, nearly every week) - Enjoy! Crescent Cookie Recipe (John Felice) 1 lb butter 1 cup of sugar 3 cups of chopped pecans 3 1/2 cups of flour 2 tsps vanilla confectioners sugar to dust Preheat oven to 350 deg F Cream softened butter with vanilla; gradually add in sugar. After these are well mixed, add flour little by little (ca. a cup at a time), and then continue by adding the pecans. Roll mixture into 3 long crescents and place on parchment paper on a cookie sheet. Bake for ca. 20 - 25 minutes. Dust with powdered or confectioners sugar.
