This could be the beginning of an exciting future for Oman CIT Alumni, if enough people join the meeting which is going to be held in The Vasantha Bhavan on Friday, March 14, 2014. One of the organizers of the event, Admin Sir, a member of Indian Community Council, hopes that there will be a good turnout as he believes that CIT has a lot to offer and that it’s time that everyone get together to ensure a home for the CIT alumnus in Oman. He said: “There’s a general feeling that there’s so many talents and potential growths in the pipeline for CITians and that it’s difficult to know how to react and how to start initiatives without having some sort of plan for the future. “We don’t have a crystal ball but a good starting point is to hold talks with juniors from the community to find out what they like about Oman Chapter and how they think it could be better. “Then at least we could decide what we want and don’t want. “We will work alongside the Oman Society of Engineers (Approving Authority for all practicing Engineers) for CIT Chapter and other organizations such as Institute of Engineers, Expatriate Community Council and the central steering group.” The meeting will be chaired by the senior CIT facilitators who both have years of experience in Engineering and Guidance- Dr.Ramaswami, Senior Technical Advisor, Mr. Louis, Mr. Rep Saravanan (the known expertise in Electrical Power System), Mr. Rajasekar etc. Admin added: “Essentially this meeting will give younger alumnus of the CIT a chance to come and have their say and air their concerns about anything that worries them. “For example people are also fed up about a lack of career growth, guidance and future planning in Oman – Once you stuck in a job, until they say you are there, and little balance between life and work, and no channels to vent out our emotions.” The government’ new growth plans to expand have also caused some people to voice interest about growth. We added: “This event is about taking the first step to a brighter future for CIT alumnus in Oman. “We don’t know what will come out of it but that’s what’s so exciting - we hope it will be the start of something bigger. “It’s for any CITian who works in Muscat, “So please take this opportunity to share your thoughts with us and help us create one social setup for the CIT community which brings together people’s experience, enthusiasm and expertise.” The meeting will be in the Vasantha Bhavan-Ghala on Friday, March 14 at 4.00pm.
