This couple, TakeHuat and Mae Tan, graciously took Cindy and I to a Mexican restaurant last night. They and their family, like almost all of the people weve eaten lunch or dinner with, were good friends with Jake and Vera Combs. For those outside of Kansas City, Jake was a spiritual mentor to both me and our host here in Malaysia, Peter NG. At Jakes funeral, Peter and his wife Lily invited Cindy and I to come visit. Peter has set up many lunch and dinner appointments for us with people who were influenced by Jake during his many trips to Asia. I think our presence has brought a bit of closure for many of these people who are still grieving Jakes passing. Even though Cindy and I saw Jake at least weekly in Kansas City, we are blessed to get a different view of Jake through Asian eyes now. Were learning of a more playful side to him. Clearly Jake was truly in his element whenever he traveled overseas to Asia. We all still miss him. Ron Wheeler
