This day I celebrate God’s grace, mercy and love in my life. He - TopicsExpress

This day I celebrate God’s grace, mercy and love in my life. He has showered me with His blessings and I am His blessed and His beloved. A time like this yesterday, by the grace of God, powers to read. I am grateful. The Chancellor admitted me (us, classmates) to the Bachelor of Laws degree for which we have been educated, trained, examined and qualified, and by her authority and that of the entire University, gave us power to read and to do all that appertains to our degree. It has been a long journey, which though started during my early and tender age; it got shaped up and defined in my four years in Emining. In fact I believe it was in the last one year, considering that when I joined my sophomore years I had been inspired to be a neurosurgeon. Just like others, some of whom I know, my career path changed but not because I thought the other was a higher mark for me to reach but for some funny reason I had thought about family and I figured I would not love to be called out of bed at the wee hours of night when I should be enjoying the warmth beside. Neither was the change influenced by selfishness either since I figured out that given that the main reason for my original dream was to be of help to others, advocating for their rights would also do. And so off I started early in school and for some time I was known as the ‘lawyer.’ So here I am now; LL.B (Hons) UoN. I am grateful. My friends believed even before mine could bud, that I would be a lawyer and Dan Kan Kandy fits in this category while other dreamt that I was their advocate in court and the case was later decided in their favour; Kemboi Kemei. That was six (6) good years ago and now that dream is a picture towards completion: past the sketch and is becoming a little clearer. In deed I am a lawyer, but then again, I still got my dates with the books for me to be able to represent them in court as an advocate. I believe that the good God who started this good thing in me will bring it to accomplishment. I thank the Emining fraternity for all that you did to shape me up and grow to be what who and I am today. I am grateful that you were obedient when God used you as vessels for that noble task. I am grateful for the countless canes and whips I received. Some well-deserved; others debatable but all leading to a common good and I am not complaining. For those who abhor punishment, even when you are in the wrong be you warned that you might be running away from the best that lies ahead of you. Just go through them and for sure you will learn something from them. Some may not be in agreement with me on this. It is okay. Everyone is entitled to their views. This is mine and since I have seen something good in the things that yet appeared as bad then. I am grateful I had to go through the shaping up as now the edges that were rough have been made smooth. It is however ironical that for the reading I have done for the last 16 years in school and for the many years since I first learnt to read, all this had been in vain since I did not have the power to read. For those who may be tempted to count me out that fast, because, I lacked in the competence to read, hear me out first. I believe that even though I might have thought to myself that all these reading was in vain, the law I have learnt teaches me otherwise. That even though one may not have the legal capacity to do something, they can do so, nonetheless because that the power, so to speak, that allows them to so act can be held in trust for them until they are either of age or meet certain legal requirements that grants them the capacity to act on their own behalf. Having not had the power to read, the little law and everything thereto that I have learnt and read, with lack of power notwithstanding, indicates to me that this was only possible given that my teachers and lecturers did hold this power for me in trust. Now that I have become of age (read: educated, trained, examined and qualified) the power to read was officially granted to me. I am further informed that since the law hates lacuna (void) there had to be invented mechanisms to allow us to read until we became of age and we could be allowed to do it on our own. To my teachers, those who held the power to read in trust for me, I am grateful. If at all you had faltered in your role I would not have been able this day to show the little that I have learnt. May God bless you and expand your territories and those of your families. Mr Sam Marigat and your gang (then) that trained us in the rocky and hot, yet beautiful and captivating Emining I salute you. I (We) shall follow your steps. Though your paths may be leading to a different direction what I shall follow is the principles behind the steps, the strength, sacrifice, determination, perseverance and humour put in every stride you make. Indeed the factory (Emining) has transformed one that was once a boy into a man. Which aspect, though, is not for me to ascertain, given that the production manual was not in mine hands but in the hand and command of Mr Sam Marigat and his able troop. It is upon you, gentlemen and ladies to ascertain whether the product packaged in the form of me is the one that you once set out to produce. On my own behalf I am grateful for all that was taken into this making. May God bless the Emining family. May He expand our tents and territories so that we may touch and influence lives not only in our Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria but also throughout the world. Let them feel the EMINING EFFECT!! God bless Emining. God bless you. God bless us! I could not tag all of us but in mine heart the whole of the Emining Fraternity is tagged
