This day I put to death all other options. That was part of the vows I spoke to Benita 30 years ago today [in Mylon Lefevres backyard]. Thats the day she and I and Adam were joined. Im not embarrassed to say publicly that loving her is something that Ive done right. I cant possibly say that with arrogance or any pretensions [its comical to think so]. And, of course, she makes it easy. But for all my distractions, my aloofness, all my missed opportunities, for all my negligence and error, all my bungling humanity, somehow I got that one right, and from the first moment I saw her. I felt my heart leap from me. I also felt it come back to me in its truest form, its native shape, protected and whole. Thats why it took me only two weeks to ask her to marry me once we met [I would have asked sooner, but thought it best to give her some breathing room]. She sweetens life, still. I hope that for all of you. Enough.
