This "dispute" has been going on for over a century and did not start with Hermosillo. Historically, it has involved American Companies, (Los Angeles based Richardson Construction Company), "settlers," investors, venture capitalist, and "colonist," Multi-National Corporations, Agrarian policy, military might, expropriation, and revolution. All for the greater economic good of those involved. What is not disputed, is that the Indigenous population, the environment, and the workers have suffered and have largely been ignored. The Rio Yaqui has run red with the blood of the people who were protecting their way of life. Professor Hopkins has been working on this for years. Hopkins, and the University of Arizona School of Law (IPLP) have been assisting the Yoeme who are only asking for life giving water they have used since time immemorial to meet their basic needs.
