This doesnt stand up to scrutiny. Its a wildly irresponsible attitude for the mainstream media to embrace. Every time a journalist lets a lie go unchallenged, it gives that lie the appearance of the truth. How can Americans be well-informed when their press do not challenge untruths? Furthermore, if every reporter was committed to good journalism, politicians would have to engage them because the candidates and their operatives need the public exposure on these legitimate media outlets. In fact, Republicans go on Bill Mahers comedy show where they know they will be skewered by a downright hostile host with an excellent BS detector. The good ones still appear on his show and rise to the challenge. Chuck Todd, you are an embarrassment. And so is your network for allowing this to pass as a current events show.
