This dog. This dog, Tootsie Roll. This darn dog has stolen my heart and runs all over the place with it with her goofy, silly, ridiculously happy self. What a goofball. Ive included the pic I snapped of her in the pound because I cant even say why she caught my eye... she was one of a hundred dogs, just a medium sized black dog in her cage. But she stopped me right in my tracks. And then crawled into my lap the first chance she got and she hugged right into me soooooo tight... you know how they do... they press their bodies into you as tight as they can and you cant help but wrap your arms around them. She just wanted to be held for as long as Id sit there. She is the crazy dog who still gets on the dresser to nap. And she lies behind my head on the sofa or in the bed and wraps her head around my neck. She is thirty pounds of wiggles and laughter and all the snuggling you can stand. She plays like a wild woman and she lives to race around the pastures with her friends. Tootsie has cancer. Transitional cell carcinoma. One of the worst. Im trying not to take this personal, but it seems like Fate just loves to send me these little souls in order to break my heart over and over. Screw you, Fate. So theres not a good treatment in her case. We are starting her on meds to hopefully slow the tumor growth. Life expectancy is short... Very short. I suspect she will also say Screw you, Fate, and fight for a good while. Because thats how Tootsie rolls.
